余氏於香港城市大學創意媒體學院獲得藝術碩士學位，及於嶺南大學獲得視覺研究學士學位。現為香港兆基創意書院媒體實驗室的導師。
她關注透過作品發現和建立創作者和經驗者的關係。她相信由藝術所誘發的多重感受能揭示日常生活難以言明的真實面。
隨著2018年獲香港藝術發展局（ADC）資助成為「藝術空間」其一創作單位，她繼續擴展創作媒介，作品涵蓋了視覺藝術、實驗動畫、影像及聲音。近年，亦與更多不同創作人合作，包括詩人、音樂人、舞台創作者、編劇、社區構作者等等，她思考視覺表現的感染力，以及於一整個創作項目裏的特有功能和對人的感知所衍生的作用。如於2021年，與盧定彰作曲家及黃怡小說家首次共同構作了《幸福家庭與狗》，以流動影像投影作為故事空間及人物內心世界的提示，嘗試提升故事的演釋力，是音樂、說書人和影像編出的跨媒體演出。
她的影像作品曾於香港、丹麥、英國等地展出， 包括香港大館（2021），香港藝術中心（2021），香港藝術館（2019）、Dynamo（2018）、SPLICE Audio Visual Performing Arts Festival（2018）、藝穗會（2017）、牛棚藝術村（2017）、賽馬會創意藝術中心（2017）、香港電台（2016）；亦曾獲收錄於《我們的錄像宣言2——記述的衝動》（2021）、《字花——土瓜灣敘事》（2021）、《愛在瘟疫時》（2021）、《候鳥》（2018）等等。
